This thread makes it seem like phpBB 3 is gonna release within next month. :P
Wondering, if the board if heavily MODded, is it still possible to at least convert the users, posts, forums, and some other important tables?

Yes. As long as the posts/topics/users tables have not been altered (if fields are added on they are ignored entirely) then it should be fine.

And even if you would need to have a clean database(no extra tables from mods), you can use the database cleaner MOD...removes all the extra tables except the ones that you need for the clean phpbb2 install. ;)

If you don't know about it...

It works wonders when you decide it is time to upgrade your website...start over with a clean phpbb2 install, and start modding. :D

So things like Categories Hierarchy and UserCP will be converted too?

What about Simple Subforums?

The amount that is converted over depends on how much work the mod authors want to do...because I doubt the phpbb authors will help with upgrading mods...

Simple subforums doesn't need to be converted. It uses forum_parent row and olympus uses forum_parents row. All you have to do to convert is setting new parent forums in Olympus.

I decided to try and run Olympus (CVS) on my forum, and after some startup issues
(cookie related) it works fine. No bugs, no problems.

I'm looking forward to converting my databases as i'm in the process of cleaning up
my entire system, including MySQL.

Be sure to let us know when the converter's done, k? Perhaps it can get in to phpBB
Olympus Beta somehow... ;)

Btw, those cookie errors only occured on my server. They worked fine everywhere
else and after some fixes on my site they work fine. Just to let you know, AFAIK, it's
not a widespread issue.
