Suggestion: Close Down Boards Until Beta
I think it would be a great idea if you guys locked all of the boards until beta started... When beta starts useful things can be posted, however we are in between 2 stages: feature organazation and beta.... At this current stage all the board does is give people a place to post topics about how much they want beta out, or just plain wining, etc... All it does is waste everyones time, time that could also be spent at just about anything else including development...

We are told that the cvs is not supported, and support is not given, and that new features are no longer taken into consideration, so why do we need this board? Abosultely nothing. First off, there shouldn't be a board for a developement version. Nobody does that.

To see what's coming, that's why.
And apparently someone does do that, or else whole site is one big, community dream...

Just because "nobody does it" doesn't make it wrong.
Additionally, closing area51 wouldn't seem to accomplish anything. People still have http://www.phpbb.com" target="_blank and the myriad fansites, and yes, the blogosphere.
This board has become a cesspool for "unrest" (bad word choice), but eliminating the water doesn't eliminate the mosquitos.

I think the performance testing should be about done by this stage in the game. Could be wrong.Viperal2 wrote: Know a better way to test coding proformance ?

Just because you ask the "unwanted" questions doesn't mean everyone else does.Discussion of general topics related to the new release and it's place in the world.
Why not, and who's nobody. Almost all project run there lastest development version, may not be latest CVS version.First off, there shouldn't be a board for a developement version. Nobody does that.
Looking at and running your codes on a local server doesn't give real life (lol, well web) performance. You should look at all other boards, they don't run they latest stable. phpBB decided to make a seperate board away from they main to test there system a smart move some would say.
Also EasyMOD forums is here, does that come as a reason to you ?
One should be happy have CVS access.

Hehe, it never ends when your changing blocks of code.A_Jelly_Doughnut wrote: I think the performance testing should be about done by this stage in the game. Could be wrong.

It would be far easier to ban the fools who are here to troll, ask for support or spread their supposed expertise on how phpBB should be developed. It's an interesting and usefull place for many people, but that has been ruined more recently with the influx of people who have then intelligence of a prawn sandwich.

the_dan ... careful, both prawns and sandwiches may feel insulted by your remark
