I use AOL dial up and my IP changes everytime I sign online. It is hard to ban someone like that.

You could contact their ISPs, but unless they are engaging in serious illegal activitiy, they probably won't do anything about it.

First off, don't allow email addresses from "free" mail services, then start banning by email address.

What I would do is enable admin registration confirmation. That way no one will have access until you enable them.

I'm in the UK with DSL and I actually have a pretty static IP. It only changes when my router's MAC address changes, and my ISP only allows one change every four hours.

An interesting idea for a mod might actually be a 'waiting period' system.. like you automatically get approved 3 days after registering. Less work on the admins, and the admins would be able to look over the accounts and weed out the rogue ones in that timeframe.

thanks for the help guys, that waiting period thing is a good idea!

I didnt want to have admin approval but i got no real choice so im doin that now.

I've also been through and banned their IP's Email's and Usernames.

Tho they are using "anonymouse.ws" to scramble their IP's so that type of banning doesnt work. Pretty annoyin website that one!

I heard about a cookie ban MOD or sumthin. do you's think this wud help?

No I don't; if they know how to use proxy servers, then I assure you they know how to delete cookies :)

I also do not allow free email accounts. This stopped ALOT of the spammers and trouble makers. Of course, a person could keep changing there AOL name, but it isn't as easy as getting another yahoo or hotmail account. It seems that little bit of extra worked stoped them. LoL. I banned all the major free email accounts and now just ban as I go. No way to ban 100% all free email venders. Just to many.
