The thing is it has never been about sticking on the latest standards. XHTML was cited has an example of semantic structuring language. The point is not allowing users to style their posts. (and not to stick to XHTML)

I think that Ptirhiik_ is arguing that from the end user's point of view styling the post is exactly what's in mind. The end user is concerned with print style, and that concern is what BBCode supports.
