2.2 Database Question
if i got members and topics and posts on 2.0.8 can i transfer it to 2.2? In other words is it possible to transfer phpbb 2.0.8 database to 2.2?
Re: 2.2 Database Question
in this moment phpBB2.2 is not ready for use, so there isn't an updater.XeoB wrote:if i got members and topics and posts on 2.0.8 can i transfer it to 2.2? In other words is it possible to transfer phpbb 2.0.8 database to 2.2?
I think they will relase a script that updates automatically your database when the board will ready.
P.S.: please excuse me if I have done some grammar errors
Re: 2.2 Database Question
The 2.2 install will simply update/upgrade the 2.0.x database and add in the new tables, but keep the existing information.
The 2.0.x files, however, will all be replaced.

Re: 2.2 Database Question
i see...so if any mods are installed, they will be kept intact? the SQL data i mean.
Re: 2.2 Database Question
Some added information (tables/fields) may not be converted over...because the script doesn't know those tables exist..or what to do with them for that matter. Besides, a whole lot of MODs compatible with phpBB 2.0.x won't work at all with 2.2.x, so the SQL data is sort of useless.
If the data contained in the fields is needed by you for other reasons, you'd have to manually back up the tables and the data.

Re: 2.2 Database Question
Broadly speaking, a lot will depend on what the MODs have done to the database and how the upgrade script works in terms of updating the tables.
Some MOD authors will be providing upgrade paths from their MODs to 2.2, but the only one that the upgrade script is likely to deal with directly will be the attachment MOD.
There will be more details on this sort of thing nearer to the final release, but as ever make sure you have a backup before you begin

Re: 2.2 Database Question
...Not to mention a lot of mods will not be needed with the new version.
