No I know what COPPA stands for (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998), but why did SHS` say COPA != COPPA?

I agree that the structure is too complicated. Actually, I had to look around a bit to realize that the signature was a sub-category under "Profile".

I would have dropped the sub-categories, and rather have longer "main" categories.

"Normal" users have enough problems with the 2.0.x control panel, and I guess it won't be easier with the 2.2.
Don't get me wrong, I love the new features.

COPA was struck down COPPA was not they are completley diffrent.

What about making these categories in DHTML? Then - user could see, what is in each category without reloading the page. This is quicker - so less stressing...

I don't mean to sound horrible or bitchy, but I am afraid that phpBB2.2 will become too complicated and have too many things in it. I wasn't too impressed with InvisionBoards because it's like you needed lots of qualifications just to add a member or change a colour somewhere, and I'm concerned that phpBB2/2 will become semi-like this.

It's not just the Admin Control Panel that worries me - when I have a look at my profile at this board - it looks kinda complicated - there are too many sections to it - I think it would be better if things were merged together in less templates like the current released version of phpBB2.

I'm sure the new phpBB2.2 forums will be great, but I just wanted to voice my concern...

Maybe if there was a function to change the interface to something more simple if you wanted to?

I could'nt agree more with that statment above. I have tried them all out there from Invision, vBulletin, and even some lesser well known forum packages like Ikonboard and YaBB.

I like phpBB forums because they are simple to use and do the job well without much fuss. Yes I agree they could have been a couple of other features as standard in phpBB2 like the "File Attachment option and a Forum Rules page, but overall it the best out there! I would also like to add what made you go with the new template look. I like the default look and personally think it looks a lot better that the new look now.

As far as the statment about people still having the option to use phpBB2 if they don't like phpBB2.2 goes in this thread later on. That may not be an option now that PHP5 has been released. Due to the fact you are not going to add support for PHP5 in phpBB2.

oh, and the supreme court has ruled COPPA unconstitutional, you can take that out of the registration process, admin settings, and usergroups

What's COPA stand for?

Child Online Protection Act -- It is to protected children from having accessing "unsuitable" content such as porn sites.

Child Online Privacy Protection Act -- It is to protect children's private information, such as their email address, age, location, etc.

Despite their similar names and abbreviations, the two laws perform do different functions.
