A little search would have answered your question

Odd numbers in the second postion mean developmental versions. Even indicate stable releases.

So, 2.0.6 was a developmental version?

What if you're running 2.0.4? Will there be an update available for the conversion to 2.2? Thanks.

Since 0 is an even number what do you think???

And concerning 2.0.4, you can upgrade to 2.0.6 is needs be then 2.2

Oh *beep*. I just made a complete idiot out of myself, didn't I.
For some stupid reason, I thought 0 was odd

We're using the same version system as the linux kernel where odd numbers indicate development releases, while even numbers indicate finals.

I have 2.0.4, and I was stupid enough to install so many MOD's that I can now not remember which I installed, and also I've modded the code some myself to make it fit into my site. So, I'm afraid that an normal update to 2.0.6 will be messed up because of all this modding, is it?

Maybe the easiest way is to do a clean 2.2 installation, and only upgrade the MySQL-database, if that is possible? Any comments?

There will be only the database upgraded. On an update from 2.0.x to 2.2.x you have to overwrite all files anyway. ;)
