phpBB cvs release ... doesn't work at all?

Post by Adagio »

Hi,

yes, I know, there is no support for CVS releases - but I'm trying to install it for 2 weeks now (every daily build), but all I get after successfull installation is (in the admin area):

Could not get style data

When I want to see the forums itself, I get a blank page.

Uhm, did I forgot something?

Unsupported means worked it out yourself, or don't use it in the first place.

From the forums rules at phpbb.com

Section 4 - B
Similarly no support is given to versions of phpBB 2.x obtained via CVS or those using the snapshot packages made available at area51.
Please respect these rules and refrain from asking for support of CVS snapshots.

Thank you.

Perhaps you could set up a page b4 u get to the CVS area, something like

" I hereby agree that in the event of asking for support on any CVS release, I am a complete idiot and will donate the equvilaent of £500 to phpBB. "

If that were to happen, the phpBB group would have enough to retire by now.

If you don't mind i put this in my signature. This is excellent cvs support agreement.

Basically if you have no idea about php or mysql i'd suggest that after trying to install a cvs snapshot it doesn't work you just accept defeat and go use the latest released version.
