Minimalistic Bot Style

Post by DarsVaeda »

Will it come included with phpBB installation?
I mean something with just text or so, no tables and additional if possible.
Would be a great help for clueless guys like me :D

Yes, it's the print view ;)

I don't think Olympus will ship with a seperate style for bots, but I'm sure someone will make one since it's possible to assign a specific style to bots. All user details, times etc. could be left out, so only relevant data is indexed.

That would be considered cloaking, no? You are delivering a separate page to the bot, which could be interpreted as coaking, but it could also be thought of as legit because it's the same post content.

I would want to avoid the risk alltogether.

This is what the devs thought of!
You may also specify a style and language that the bot will view the board using. This may allow you to reduce bandwidth use by setting a simple style for bots.
I just want to use it, but i'm not able to create such a minimalistic style. So i'm asking if it will be included.

I think that developers will not include this style, but it will be very easy to create. Probably it will be released in a week or two after release of phpBB3 beta.

I don't think so because vB and IPB both have their Archive and lo-fi modes respectively and if you google for something and it throws results from a vB or IPB board 9 times out of 10 you are presented with the bot style ;)

In vB and IPB there is "&lofi=1" or something like this in the URL. In phpBB3 there isn't anything like this or like "&style=x" and bot will not add this to URLs.
