Default 2.2 theme. Images to optimised PNG?

I'm starting to use PNG's for all my web designs now. It's a pity that Alpha Transparency doesent work in IE without a hack (Some coders don't prefer getting Javascript and CSS everywhere) but using GIMP I was able to use 24bit images with one colour transparency. That alone suprasses GIFs with their colour limitation and compression, plus it works in IE so a big bonus for all my imaging
