Newbie Installer get password error

Having problems installing EM? Let's fix that
Forum rules
DO NOT give out any FTP passwords to anyone! There is no reason to do so! If you need help badly enough, create a temporary FTP account that is restricted to only the files that you need help with and give the information for that. Giving out FTP information can be very dangerous!

When you got the EM Password page, you had to enter it in twice to make sure you entered it correctly. This error is telling you that the two entries did not match. So try to do it again. If you don't really want/need an EM Password, you can simply leave the EM Password fields blank and continue on with the EM install...

Did you name the new directory mods instead of Mods, MODS, mod, or something else? If that is not the problem, could you post your EM Debug information???

EM's Debug Information

Click on the Display Debug Info link:

Then copy and paste the Debug Info page here in your message. Do not embed it between code bbcode tags. The Debug Info page is already formatted to display correctly in your message...

Are you sure you entered the correct path? Below is a directory listing of the files in the FTP root directory. The FTP root directory is simply the starting point when you connect. The path to the phpBB2 installation should begin with one of the directory names listed below.
Directory names are case sensitive. Be sure the easymod directory is all lowercase.
In some *very rare* cases it's possible that you are not connecting to the proper FTP Server. Try specifying the hostname in the FTP Server field and the port in the FTP Port field.
Some servers have issues with the passive mode that EasyMOD attempts to use by default. If you have the PHP FTP extension loaded, then enable that option in step 1.

FTP root directory:
/c:/hosting/webhost4life/member/fireball

Directory listing: your FTP Path should start with one of the directories listed below
FTP Error: A file listing could not be obtained. This usually indicates solution 4 listed above.

Are you using the Windows option???

Image

If you still receive the same error even when using the Windows install option, you should still be able to see a Rescan button at the bottom of the page where the error is displayed. If so, you should try using it. I'm guessing that you are supplying an invalid path to your board. The Automated detection method can detect the correct path for you...

Rescan Option

Ok, do you see a rescan option at the bottom of this page? If so, click on it. Hopefully on the next page, you will be given the Automcated Detection option. If so, go with it...

You can get a good idea of what the path would be by looking in your FTP application. Since every server layout is different, there is no one exact answer that fits everyone though. Many servers include a public_html folder with all the forums and utilities stored within it. So on those servers, the path to the board would start with public_html. On my server, I don't have that, so the path to my board starts from the first folder at the top, which is one of my domain names...
