trouble installing easymod

Having problems installing EM? Let's fix that
Forum rules
DO NOT give out any FTP passwords to anyone! There is no reason to do so! If you need help badly enough, create a temporary FTP account that is restricted to only the files that you need help with and give the information for that. Giving out FTP information can be very dangerous!

trouble installing easymod

Post by Gandalf_82 »

ok, I am at the point where it says EasyMOD Password Protection and when i type in the correct username and password it says this after

FTP ERROR: login failed
The FTP Server was connected to, but the username and password were rejected. The following is recommended:

rejected how? when i typed in the correct user and password?

Did you correctly type the username and password? Make sure your CAPS LOCK key is off and try again.
If you are 100% certain your user/pass is correct, then perhaps you are not connecting to the correct host or on the correct port. Try changing your FTP Server entry from localhost to the actual ftp host name and your FTP Port entry from 21 to the actual ftp port.

My user and password are fine, and i dont have the caps on.

I am sure that i'm on the right host.

hmm...... what is my problem?

i'm only on step 2 of 5.

You would use the exact same settings that you use in your FTP application. If the FTP URL, username, and password are correct, then you shouldn't have any trouble connecting to your FTP Server through the EM install. You should be able to copy and paste the settings from your FTP application to make sure they are all correct...

Actually this doesn't really help to tell me whether you are using the correct FTP login information for your FTP server or not. This just tells me that instead of 755, you have the permissions of your folders set to 777, which is very dangerous, and your files to 666 even though they should be set to 644. Although it appears that your root folder permissions are set too high too, this report may actually be telling me that the permission of your root folder may set too low, which would explain the root path write :: No. Your root folder should also be set to 755 like most of the other folders...

Everything else looks very good. So once you get the correct FTP settings, EM should install smoothly...
