[UNRESOLVED] There still seems to be a little bug

Having problems installing EM? Let's fix that

DO NOT give out any FTP passwords to anyone! There is no reason to do so! If you need help badly enough, create a temporary FTP account that is restricted to only the files that you need help with and give the information for that. Giving out FTP information can be very dangerous!

[UNRESOLVED] There still seems to be a little bug

Post by justwanteasymod »

There were no errors during installation, but when I want to install the auto group mod, EM says this:
Critical Error:
Function Trace: main[1]->modio_prep[2]

FTP ERROR: login failed

What modio_prep does is make the FTP connection. It says login failed. Did you change your settings at all since running the installer? Make sure your password is correct in the settings page. Right click and view source to make sure it is listed correctly on the settings page.

Most likely this was caused by a bug in the code. It is now fixed. Install 11a if you have not already. If you already installed 11a, download 11a2 from the EM announcement forum and replace the admin/em_includes/em_cipher.php with the one from the new package.

The settings page on that preview is messed up, so sit tight and I'll get a new version up today or tomorrow. Then we'll try again ;)

Changing to "UNRESOLVED"

Alright Nuttzy I wonder if the problem with the error shown in the image below

Error I was getting when trying to install mods:
Image

1) Is due to no folder lang_german install in the previous versions of easymod. (I doubt this - ref. #3 below)

2) The fact that peeps are putting the same EM password as their FTP password or forum admin access password.

I even followed your instructions on taking out the encryption call out line in the em_cipher.php. And it didn't work after that.

So I did what I did in #2 above and got the 0.0.12 install to work (ref problem below in #3) - I changed to a different EM password then my FTP & forum admin password during the 0.0.12 install. After the 0.0.12 install was successful - I was able to install auto_group & custom_title mods and did not have the FTP error (shown in the image above).

3) 0.0.12preview - could not get the new installer to work stuck on Step 3 an error shown in the image below occurs, because there was no lang_german folder in the language folder, only the lang_english folder. I just created the lang_german folder and copied the files in the lang_english folder into the lang_german folder (since I don't use german on my board) to complete the install.

0.012 install error

You shouldn't have a German folder on your forums if it doesn't contain all of the German files.... If you don't use German, then what's the problem? I don't think there's anything that REQUIRES you to have the German language installed.... :|
