Automatically add list items in bbcode editor

Post by Arty » Tue Oct 29, 2013 12:09 pm

When user clicks "List" button editor creates [list] and [/list] items, but not [*]. Users need to figure out on their own that they should use [*]

I suggest 2 changes to editor:

1. Automatically add [*] when list is created: [list][*][/list] and place cursor after [*]
2. Add [*] when user presses enter key when inside list, so enter would create new list item

I usually create my list first and then add the
  • bbcode around it. So none of your solutions would solve my issue.
But it would probably improve usability for many, especially novice users.

As easier way for listing items would be a plus for me too.

As long as this won't cause problems entering multiple-paragraph list items, I'm fine with it.
  • Paragraph 1
  • Paragarph 2

    Paragraph 3
  • Paragraph 4

    Paragraph 5
So maybe if [*] is generated and the user presses Enter immediately, the spurious [*] would be removed. It would also be nice if multiple-paragraph list items added a blank line before the next bullet to avoid Paragraph 3 being located closer to Paragraph 4 than to Paragraph 2.

Shouldn't be a problem.
Slightly better English than it was in 2005, still improving :D
