[RFC] Unsubscribe without logging in

Are you going to use the same key for unsubscribing to different topics?

I really don't know what the "right" approach here is.

You can use the key you get in the email for a topic or forum to:

• Unsubscribe from that topic/forum
• Unsubscribe from all topics/forums
• Cease all board communications

You cannot use it to unsubscribe from other individual topics or forums. To do that you would need to login and manage subscriptions via the UCP.

Here are some suggestions:

• Why not simply create a key upon account creation.
  A link would be something like this: http://www.example.com/unsubscribe.php?u=1234&key=xA6g8jk
  Use the characters [a-z, A-Z, 0-9], not 16 (hex) - That will save a nice amount of space on the DB.
• Recently, I see in my email that email lists have a special header:
  List-Unsubscribe: <unsubscribe link>, perhaps that should be added to.

I see that this topic hasn't gone forward in a while - I personally think it should have a high priority.
