Re: Attachment Management

There's a balance to strike here, and I think this early on in the process, I think it is appropriate to not make the audience too wide. The discussions can be found, which is demonstrated by all of us being here, and that's as open as I think it should be, for the moment.

Re: Search Architecture

What route would that be, exactly? You mean a minimalistic out of the box product? I agree, I think I made clear that's one of the traits of Vanilla that I don't like :) I do like a minimalistic core, that comes with a bunch of "standard" modules pre-packaged, to make a complete product th...

Re: Attachment Management

I suppose he is proposing that you get the option to upload a file with a chosen filename. Much like the way you get to change a file's name when you download it to your local computer. OTOH, I don't think I've ever seen an email client (closest analogy) that allows you to give an attachment a diffe...

Re: Search Architecture

Yes, I believe Vanilla does this. In fact, I like more of the concepts behind Vanilla, like personal messages within the context of public threads ("Whispers"). I actually did a brief investigation whether I should move to Vanilla from phpBB (2, at that time). I didn't, because Vanilla is ...

Re: Wysiwyg TinyMCE implementation

Edit: maybe I sought too much into your post, sorry about that. Yes, it does seem to be relevant :) --- The central sentence I found from that link: "Regardless, the safest method for handling information sent to you from TinyMCE is to filter it." Yes, I said as much :) BBcode is one way o...

Re: Search Architecture

"Tagging" doesn't have to be free tagging, where users come up with the tags. You could also given them the option of picking from a certain set of tags. What I have often thought about is the ability to put a single topic in different forums. That's really the same thing, in a way. This i...

Re: [Usability] Reducement of confirmation pages / Allow undo

I wonder whether we are making this too complicated, and I think agreement needs to be reached on just what the scope of this thing will be. An undo "stack" suggests the possibility of undoing multiple actions, several steps back. However, if all we're talking about is replacing "Are ...

Re: Wysiwyg TinyMCE implementation

Or even per post. Actually, the way Drupal works is that it allows the admin to define "input formats", which are combinations of the aforementioned input-output-translators. Permissions can be defined per input format, so that different users can use different input formats. A user gets t...

Re: Search Architecture

Search suggestions could be done now, with the native search; it already contains a search word list ;)

Re: [Usability] Reducement of confirmation pages / Allow undo

One possible way would be for undo-items to be tied to sessions. If the session is no longer valid, there will be no need for the undo anymore (at least not if it's purely limited to "immediate" undo, i.e. you took an action, you are notified it was carried out, and you regret it immediate...
