Re: Inside: a benchmark of phpBB's performance under simulated load
3.0 (light blue) vs 3.1 (grey) A comparison of two phpBB versions. The amount of seconds phpBB reports that it took to render a page on my machine while the server was handling number of simultaneous requests. https://i.imgur.com/z4jKQVh.png Apache crashed around 130 requests on 3.0. These results a...

Re: Inside: a benchmark of phpBB's performance under simulated load
I re-ran the test without debug. Nothing else about the test has changed. I ran the test twice this time, and there is a lot more data because to my knowledge not a single request came back empty this time, while before there was quite a few dropped. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/oimg?key=0AqF...

Re: Inside: a benchmark of phpBB's performance under simulated load
Actually you are right on both! I didn't realize the debug flag effected performance, I though that was just to ignore the install folder's presence. I'll rerun a bit later and update the data. A couple other problems with this benchmark I want to enumerate here so I can repair later: 1. Both benchm...

Re: Inside: a benchmark of phpBB's performance under simulated load
I should probably make it clear that this is not a simple apacheBench-like test.
Those are simulated clients that are creating accounts, sleeping, and reading posts on phpBB software concurrently. Cookies, Sessions, & all.
That's why I believe this, with a lot of work, could be a useful tool.

Inside: a benchmark of phpBB's performance under simulated load
I'm creating software to DDos phpBB. It's coming along nicely. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/oimg?key=0AqFTBa9iYPrndGlVNy1KTGZsUV9XdlhJbzE4MnVvNkE&oid=2&zx=xqogxlxai6im What does that chart mean? It means on my machine, without apc, while the benchmark is running, 90 active users at on...

Re: Network Status Micro Site | GSOC 2013
Shashankmehta, I'm a gsoc aspirant like yourself, but I didn't see any of the other developers comment so I thought I'd provide some suggestions. Personally I think your design is fine, but what do you have against the old one? I think the design is good already, you just need to add more features t...

Re: phpBB Session Backend Abstraction Proposal Draft
Naderman, The safety-first approach makes sense, and I don't have the years of experience as a system-admin to backup my opinions. What is your opinion on offering the option of where writes & reads come from? It certainly wouldn't be too much more effort, and in my (admittedly small) experience...

Re: phpBB Session Backend Abstraction Proposal Draft
erangamapa, Very interesting proposal! I'm a gsoc aspirant like yourself so I don't really have a say in your proposal, but I would say it's a fine proposal. If we use a caching system like memcache in combination with current session storage mechanism (database), we can reduce the database calls an...
