Re: [RFC] Human Readable URLs
An example of a redirect: User clicks an old url: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2133523 htaccess (which is not aware of anything DB side) will redirect here: http://www.phpbb.com/community/f14/t2133523/ User lands on the page, which detects the slugs do not match. It will ...

Re: [RFC] AJAX via jQuery / jQuery UI
AJAX or HTML5? Or both??? Rather than just suggesting that we use HTML5 and AJAX, how about explaining what it would to and why it would be useful? HTML5 alone is simply an update to HTML, with a few extra tags. And if you're talking about JavaScript and AJAX, where would these be used? Be specific!

Re: Can I throw away my WordPress installation?
Oh, and e-mail notifications of discussion replies - duh! Of course you want them enabled by default for new users! Alas, that can only be done with a mod, which has been abandoned for 3 years and is currently broken. Assuming humans will 1) remember to check back periodically to see if they actual...

Re: Can I throw away my WordPress installation?
That's certainly not true. I don't see phpBB drying up at all. Having everything in a single package doesn't really make sense, as it leads to bloat.still giving wrote:Standalone BBs are a dead end, and drying up. People expect more from the internet these days. There are other folks offering them more.

Re: [RFC] CSS Image Sprites
If you or anyone can please provide some kind of proof to the fact that this is an issue Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a simple mechanism for adding style (e.g., fonts, colors, spacing) to Web documents. Another reason not to promote the overuse of CSS sprites is that it could cause developers to...

Re: Prosilver Overhaul/Modernization
Switching to HTML5 is so stupidly easy and simple, it really should be done. At what advantage? A savings of 161 bytes of useless text per page!! At a cost of removing the document type declaration. For HTML 5, I guess this is acceptable. I don't agree with the decision of removing...

Re: [RFC] CSS Image Sprites
I do somewhat agree with Ishimaru Chiaki. Image sprites and any use of CSS should be used for style purposes, not content purposes. There are cases, for example the use of image sprites for the corners, navbar icons, etc. for which it makes a lot of sense to use CSS image sprites. I don't believe th...
Woah
I just noticed the new Area51 theme.
Nice.
Although, I always thought Area51 was, more or less, a showcase for a lot of the default phpBB settings? Although I guess that's what the phpBB showcase is for.
Anyway, either way I like it.

AFAIK, 3.1 and 3.2 will be coming before phpBB4. So there's still plenty of life left in phpBB3.

•Combat Spam by Hiding a Text Field With JavaScript, Instead of Using CAPTCHA Spambots can’t fill in the field because they can’t interact with objects in client-side JavaScript; only users can.
