Re: New Style for phpBB 3.3 ?

But still, you didn't consider my argument of working style either. Using classes in a better and organized way can help us achieve the benefits you mention of IDs. Besides I don't think I said anything wrong either, as you're trying to portray. Not using IDs isn't a sin. Now that's a very differen...

Re: New Style for phpBB 3.3 ?

You made a claim too, and you can't prove it. Exactly what was my claim? I wasn't the one that told anyone how to do his job. You presented something as an absolute truth based on an article that someone wrote while lacking knowledge of your own, I asked you to elaborate on why you think Buddha exi...

Re: New Style for phpBB 3.3 ?

Whining without proving something isn't going to get you anywhere. How is the weight of proof on me lol? You have a nerve. You don't even know how selectors are read from right to left which is really basic knowledge and now you come back with attitude at me. I won't repeat myself. You made a claim...

Re: New Style for phpBB 3.3 ?

[...] It can be overridden even without !important. Do it like this: <div id="banana" class="apple"><span>banana and apple</span></div> div {padding: 50px} #banana {color: red; } .apple span {color: green; } Please for the sake of this discussion stop using reusability as an arg...

Re: New Style for phpBB 3.3 ?

1. Even the author of the article that you referenced does not account for reusability as an argument: One argument against using IDs is that they can’t be reused, but to my mind this is a weak argument. The whole point of using an ID is that it’s unique; if you want to reuse something you’d use a c...

Re: New Style for phpBB 3.3 ?

A fact is a fact. It's about who discovers the fact by research and shares the knowledge with the help of an example. And certainly someone who is in this job would know better than you or me, plus I didn't speak his tongue. I understood what he's sharing and find it sensible enough to share the va...

Re: New Style for phpBB 3.3 ?

I didn't know there was a hype for it? I read the blog from a popular and knowledgeable man and I would believe his words over any other random person's. So if you read a blogger who is popular and knowledgeable, then you go and spread his words as an absolute truth? I'm talking about this: "W...

You still have not answered me about IDs.

Do you have the knowledge to provide an answer or were you just following an Internet hype about not using IDs?

Re: New Style for phpBB 3.3 ?

Fixing the current style is a bigger task... What's wrong with it though? I mean, what's wrong with its appearance, colors and layout that needs fixing and changing? Wouldn't it require less time to simplify and improve the DOM and the CSS using more HTML5 and CSS3 while keeping the layout, the col...

Re: New Style for phpBB 3.3 ?

Imo there's no need for an entire new theme and we should simply improve on the current theme. With things like: - HTML5 Elements - Smilies in a dropdown box and/or a WYSIWYG editor - Sprites, SVG icons and SVG forum/topic imageset - Remove CSS @import, organize and improve CSS (less files hopefully...
