Re: Thank you to the devs

I'm wondering why, each time an announcement is published there is so much "thank you" feedback :) Not that I'm knocking you guys for showing gratitude :D Cause we are trying to counter some of the, now consistant, bitching that goes on for every anouncement. OR It could be cause you have...

Re: Thank you to the devs

Thank you for phpBB, your time, your effort, and your selflessness.

Re: shoutbox

You probably should look for the mod on the main site. Not the dev site for the next version of phoBB which has not been opened for beta yet, let alone had any mod published for it.

Re: Spell Check

What about some form of firefox extension/activex control that would use local resources for spell checking. Maybe a 1 time dictionary and applet download from the site viola. You have client side spell checker integrated with the forums. Note: I have not looked at spelling cow or the other apps men...

Re: admin panel

On our site, we removed anonymous access to the /admin/ folder. This requires us to login with a server username/password as well as be an admin.

Its a second level of security, not perfect, but better.

In the *nix world, passwd is used to change your password. Maybe you have a weak password.

The back thing I have no ideas about and this is one of those times that google can't help.

Re: on 2.0.11. Still hacked? What is the problem?

Those permissions have nothing to do with phpBB. Those are file system related. Notice the -rw-r--r--. Looks to me like the account "myaccount" is the problem.

Re: phpBB 2.2 Inherit Permission

Hi, I just read the features of phpBB 2.2. Anybody knows what "Inherit" permission is good for. I think this is very dangerous since we have many permissions and we could easily forget about inherit  There is nothing inherently dangerous about this setup. Lazy administrators are inh...

Re: sub-site forums

I solved the global config issue by making a copy of the _config table and adjusting constants.php for each site to point to the appropriate table. I don't think there is much of a security issue involved, since all sites are on the same server and using the same User tables. Also, by having the coo...
