All that is doing is adding another operation that then has to display the Privacy Policy (and yes I know that it is easily done with js) and then be validated before the form can be submitted

They might work but they do not comply with the law.
Anyway I am not prepared to revisit the whole of the GDPR debate, I spent 18 months of my life on that - I will leave it to you "experts" to decide what to do.

a tick box with a link so you can actually read it is the best solution imo. Acceptance of a Privacy Policy cannot be a tickbox, with or without a link, it has to be a positive action, so nothing less than an "I accept" button is permissible. Sorry if this upsets the layout but the law co...
