Re: New CAPTCHA

Am I the only one here who thinks that if a user is so dumb that they can not figure out the CAPTCHA is a few attempts that perhaps you don’t want them posting to your board? This may even prevent the one post legit posters. I still like my idea of combining a small logic puzzle with the letters. Y...

Re: New CAPTCHA

MJ, with respect, would you like me to start on page one and go through to this page (16) and quote all the users who are complaining about the difficulty of the CAPTCHA? I'm not the only one. But don't take my word for it, read all sixteen pages. The purpose of any given captcha is to make it diff...

Re: New CAPTCHA

I tried adding a little bit of a hint to Occlude. What do people think? http://xore.ca/wintermute/images/occlude.png Edit: basically, a little zigzag to indicate the order in which the letters are supposed to appear. I could also change the code to allow the letters to read left-to-right, top, follo...

It is? Which one was #3 again? (Use codenames, please. Assigning an arbitrary ordering on an unordered set is confusing)

Re: New CAPTCHA

Hey, my first post in area51. Look at all the pretty colors. :) First thought - I am so excited to see this thread. I have been following it for days. The captcha prototypes are very exciting. I've said this before - I currently run about 8 phpBB sites and I'm getting hammered with spam registratio...

Re: New CAPTCHA

Just playing around and came up with this idea. Use a complex pattern background, something that has visual redundancy, but still has hard lines to it, then use different fonts, some outlined, others not, in multi color gradients or images, stretch and twist the image, and I think that you will hav...

Re: CashMod

For what it's worth, Cash Mod isn't even remotely being considered for inclusion. This discussion is less about "should Cash Mod be included?" as it is "why must people keep insisting that it should be?"

Re: CashMod

There's already a trend of feature bloat, it's an aspect of nearly every (i hesitate to say "all") peice of software out there that's matured and stable.

Adding feature bloat to phpbb won't help it set new trends.

Re: CashMod

My basis for not wanting Cash Mod included in core phpbb is different, actually. For all that i've worked on it, developed it, maintained it, etc, i don't actually *like* it anymore, and probably wouldn't use it on any forum i run unless it hooked into other software in a non-trivial fashion. Points...

Re: CashMod

Don't expect a beta until after phpBB3 is even released...a mod like that will take a lot of work...and I highly doubt he will start until the RC stages or the final version is released...he doesn't want to come back one day and find out that they changed 50% of the main code sections overnight or ...
