Re: Consensus on Attachment Extensions..

Hmm.. well I am sure it works, but would the regular user (No Permissions) be able to complete the process.. I think not.. (This is aimed at your bold writing..) As for extension renaming, the renaming would only take place on certain file formats, scripting languages etc.. And I think its safe to a...

Re: Question about upgrade script

http://www.phpbb.com/downloads.php#converters" target="_blank

Will the converter be based on the UCS that Ashe wrote for phpBB2.x? Or will it be a standalone product?

Thanks.. Yawnster

Re: Consensus on Attachment Extensions..

Hi Ex, got your message... but I think I'm missing something...??? How would a user be able to utilize the 'vulnerablility' (hack it)? The vulnerability is that a user uploads a PHP file, the extension stays, and then they can execute the file. This is impossible, I believe a number of formats have...

Re: Consensus on Attachment Extensions..

As far as I can see the only person who would be able to perform this would be the administrator, thus making it not a vulnerability.. Hmm.. I think your point has substance, but I think that the solution is overworked, all it would require for the users to do this is to upload a file in .txt and th...

Re: Consensus on Attachment Extensions..

Hmm.. _underscore_ well the SVG format is for vector based graphics.. (Ability to make them any size you wish without compromising on quality).. As for the formats, I have taken on board your advice and have listed each extension I feel will not make the cut with a reason why.. Anyway, enough editin...

Re: Consensus on Attachment Extensions..

The list should be of all pretty well known file formats. I'm not sure if Terragen falls under that, but the Gimp formats do, and Blender is pretty well known also I believe. I'm not quite sure about RPM and DEB. (As in if they should really be on that list, I'm not asking for someone to explain th...

Re: new class - diff ?

Can I clarify one thing about your plan.. Who is going to pay for the bandwidth on such a server? As phpBB is a non-profit organisation it does not have the resources to host such a service personally, I also do not see Sourceforge offering such a service.. This is one obstacle I see in the way of t...

Re: Consensus on Attachment Extensions..

Hmm at the moment I am trying not to exclude any of the formats from the list until its actually stopped recieving suggestions, then common sense should show which formats will and will not be used, preferably the Offical staff can help on this one as I am by no means an expert in terms of all the f...
