grap the latest CVS (from phpbb3) and read the INSTALL.htm file. In that file you can find a step by step instruction how to convert a phpbb2 to a phpbb3 board

oke I've managed to build a simple demo. You can find the files in the .rar file along with 2 images. Read the install.txt before using and use is on own risk.

simply don't.. you only show the amount of posts inserted and update it say every 5 seconds.. you can see the progress on that way..

I think you could know this in advance. For certain thing you know that it could take a while on big board e.g. posts. You can simply see how many posts their are on the old board. You should in theory add an even amount of posts to the new board. This way your could give an estimation about how man...

I don't know if it's intended behaviour but I needed to install a default phpbb3 and then go back to the install start page before it would let me use the converter. I've reported this as a bug.. that some axplanation about this fact would be usefull, but if you look at the INSTALL.htm file it expl...

if you want less memory consumed you can lower both values, for example a batch size of 2000 and num_wait_rows to 10. Maybe this could also me mentioned somewhere, or be an option to choose. My guess is.. that a lot of user are going to be confronted with out of memory errors.. (I haven't tested it...
