Re: Why do we use js-hover-effects in User Control Panel Navigat

if you use display: block; then IE shows the strangest things as I think it does not know what to do This sounds to me like you might have had a background-color set on the first block entity you mentioned but no background-color on the second block entity you mentioned. If you set display: block o...

Re: New Karma System (Theory)

That's not really the purpose of the system... it's not to mark topics themselves, but responses by members. At least how I see a simple implementation of it. Let me see if I can give an example, say you ask for support in the support forums, and someone replies... If the post was really helpful, y...

Re: Community moderation

I think this thread (and the many threads there have been about such systems) demonstrate nicely why a Karma or rating system isn't such a great idea for the core phpBB features. Everyone has a different idea of how they want Karma(etc.) to affect their forum and of the best way of going about it. I...

Re: phpBB 3.0 Documentation backend

Altova's XML Spy was pretty good for features and seemed like a nice enough interface, but for some reason I didn't enjoy using it as much as Textpad and uninstalled it. I'll have to try some others.

Re: Suspecting beta release very very soon!

What someone should do is make a mod so that groups and ranks can be tied together...like if they get 1000 posts or something they could go to a new group automatically which has less restrictions(or is this possible and I missed it?). :D That's in with "events" and planned for 3.2 appare...

Re: So, the last surprise of Olympus is ...

@digibluez I don't know if I'm just misunderstanding your english, but when the original subBlue design was finalised I don't think XHTML and CSS were in anything like the shape they are now and were probably not even fully implemented standards. Even the subBlue design you're looking at now would h...

Re: So, the last surprise of Olympus is ...

This is possible with CSS only, yes. In theory, yes. However, I will prostrate myself before anyone who can produce that layout dynamically using no tables and no tabular CSS display properties in CSS 2.1 and still have it automatically resize the height/width of all the elements in the row/column ...

Re: Olympus vs. the rest

Remember, we were all n00bs once. Yes, but some of us had the courtesy to lurk for a few hours/days/weeks/months and read a bit before posting questions. Some n00bs have waded straight in and asked a question practically identical to the subject line of a topic that was at the top of the section at...

Re: So, the last surprise of Olympus is ...

I know bugger all about html and css so perhaps you could explain, what's so bad about tables? How does the CSS approach make them better? How would you achieve (for example) this layout without tables? There is nothing inherently "bad" about tables. What has become "bad" is tha...
