A link to the mod could be usefull I think, also the quote of the precise message . It is probably the spelling of the tag which is not good.

Neither it is a question of disabled access to forums or topics : we are talking here about the root level, meaning the whole board. This can be very usefull to disallow the board except for dedicated persons during a certain time,ie saying during a migration/test period. I hope you will figure this...

It is probably because the portal will user the publication system that is phpBB board. phpBB can run without portal, portal can't. It is so very logical to first release the stand-alones part, then only after the parts that will use the tools .

If you don't want registrations, set it to admin approval, and don't activate anyone. If you REALLY don't want registrations, just comment a few lines in the register.php file, or just remove all the links to it. Better yet, just delete the register.php file :D, or rename it. To difficult to read for users : today most of the support on installing a mod is relative to a wrong reading of a find or any statement, so multiplying the number of instructions for really a very little gain (IMHO none actually) doesn't sound a good move. Did you also restore the backup of your board before the first install of the mod ?
Anyway, with this kind of errors (you will probably encounter some others as you don't use subSilver), you have to edit the mod install description to adjust the find statement to what is present in the phpBB file.

Table are accessed with phpMyadmin or equivalent (Eskuel to not mention it ).

Easymod keep you modified files saved before and after the modification in the mod directory, you can so use those files to overwrite the current ones (this will remove all modifications applied to the files part of the mod done after the installation of the mod).
