Re: PHPBB 2.x
why are they making phpbb3 and phpbb 2.x? wich one is better? 2.2.x is the development code for 3.0, it was going to be 2.2, but the devs decided that enough had changed to update the major version number to 3. so, 2.2.x = 3.x as far as development goes 3.0 will be the release number. if you mean 2...

Re: Posting Code To Fix Bugs???
Would I be correct in assuming someone would be able to help post bug fixes to Sourceforge? I think the answer is: not untill the beta phase. Posting bug reports and/or fixes is not even remotely useful to the devs, because the code isn't finished yet. Unfinished code can't be called "broken&q...

Re: Speed Differences compared to 2.0.11
from what I remember, you can set that number somewhere in the ACP, so that if your server starts getting too many hits, it won't load itself down even more trying to generate massive amounts of PHP stuff. so, I'd guess that this board is currently set at a limit of 10, and so the code is shortcircu...

Re: Status Updates on Development Progress of phpBB 2.2 ??
That is correct as even the most cursory use of the "search function" would have revealed to the initial poster. Ok, first, nobody kill me for this post, please? I fully understand that "it'll be done when it's done” and I'm a little overwhelmed by the number of very awesome features...

What does CVS stand for? concurrent versioning system. An efficient piece of software to track ongoing changes in files, usually used for tracking changes in software code. it allows storing changes to be fairly painless, at least once you get used to it. Once stored, versions are difficult or impo...

Re: What is "Load"?
My web host may I ask where they maybe found (if it's not a private host)? If your site is mission critical, I'd be looking elsewhere. not really (it's basically a site for me and a few friends), but the whole thing about it taking 65 or more seconds to load a forum page sometimes is beginning to b...

Re: What is "Load"?
First, the simple question (I think). What would be acceptable load for phpbb to run on? I've done some searching and read that 3 is considered fairly good, and from experiences with my web host, that does seem to work ok. however, I've often experienced that host running with a load of 20 or 30. I'...
