Re: MODS -> plugins/add-ons/extensions
I think the Firefox terms work well, add ons encompassing extensions and themes. I have always been just as disgusted with their schitzo naming conventions as with all the others that use multiple terms when one would suffice. Do not forget firefox plugins, which are *slightly* different from exten...

Re: Wysiwyg TinyMCE implementation
WYSIWYG is not a feature that is required for basic bulletin board operation, thus it falls under *bloatware* in my world and since Rhea is geared towards delivering a bare bones framework that is as featureless or feature loaded as an individual administrator wishes it to be (through extensions) I ...

Re: MODS -> plugins/add-ons/extensions
extension, extending the core install seems condescending as if you have to install the extensions to get functionality. I prefer the term plugin. And yet projects that use the term plug in have to use the word *extend* to define it's meaning and context, yet another reason to simply by using a ter...

Re: Requirements page
The web servers should *theoretically* be transparent but it's always good to define the ones the application has been tested/benchmarked on and hopefully supported under. I know in support there was a growing number of Litespeed & Cherokee installs that I happened across while helping users and...

Re: Requirements page
Yeah...sure. You have a list of supported web servers/appliances, at least ones that Rhea will be tested and supported under? Apache IIS version 7+ ? Nginx Litespeed Cherokee lighttpd What about backends? At a minimum the current ones with the possibility of upping the existing version requirements?...

Requirements page
PhpBB4/Requirements From phpBB Development Wiki < PhpBB4 Jump to: navigation , search Software Requirements These requirements will have to be met by the server that shall run phpBB4. * PHP >= 5.3.0 thus SPL is always available. I think you should restructure that page and also rename it to Depende...

Re: What is this forum for?
The code-name is indeed based on the moons of Saturn <snipped> Woohoo way to go, naming something after something that was already named after something else. :P Well, you can intend for it to *mean* whatever you want, but luckily it can also be interpreted however each of us chooses to. I choose t...

Re: What is this forum for?
Good grief I hope not...seriously the female Titan Rhea, mother of the gods, is a far better inspiration for the next version than an icy, crater scarred, airless lump of rock.idiotnesia wrote:So the code name of phpBB 4 is rhea, right? Guys, you are flying from Mars to Saturn

Re: MODS -> plugins/add-ons/extensions
BTW, I suppose you are referring to what I said about Joomla? In fact, the difference is not as big as it might seem. Yes, the fact that their naming scheme is all over the place with extension, component, module, plugin, when overall they are lumped together at the highest level as *extensions* th...

Re: Core features - what stays in
i guess we do not mean the same thing when we say "architecture". That would be correct. Every SAS I've written in the last 10 years was a one page UML diagram. I guess you can rename this topic whatever you want or abandon it because it went off the rails quite some time ago. Good luck. :)
