Re: [quick-reply will not be added]

It's too bad the developers have personal issues regarding PROGRESS. Is QR progress? No, not really, its a feature. Adding it at this point is feature creep. Feature creep is anti-progress. Thus I don't think that the developers have anything against progress. By not including it at this stage of t...

Re: Version 3.0 release?

if they were to be missed, everyone would be complaning. In my opinion, it looks like everyone is already complaing about not have an estimated time-frame. I'm sure you would get a lot less complaints, if you did have a time-frame. Really, no matter what you do, people are always going to complain ...

Re: Version 3.0 release?

I see! In that case, here is a different question. If I were to use the development version, what are the odds of the database table structure changing in a way that would prevent me from upgrading to the beta or final release of version 3.0? Are there any major database structure changes planned b...

Re: Version 3.0 release?

Sorry Dan, but that's what I don't understand. In any project I have ever done I have always had an estimated time frame in mind (or at least the project manager does). Does Version 3.0 not have a project manager that can give an estimate on its completion date? There may be internal deadlines, but...

Re: [Olympus] Has it failed already?

Look carefully at phpBB3. There are some features in it even vB doesn't have, like the level of permissions control. Not true. I use boards of all kind - phpBB (I've used Olympus CVS AND 2.0.12), vBulletin, Invision, SMF - and their permissions levels are all equal. I've not used vB or IPB, but tel...

Re: [Olympus] Has it failed already?

Then I'd say that ACCEPTING donations would be the next obvious step. It doesn't *beep* us off, you know, and it will help you. And then we let everyone and their dogs who have donated demand features. Not going to happen. It's bad enough that everyone is demaning of us already, even without donati...

Re: [Olympus] Has it failed already?

having a featurelss forum just *beep* off users. [...] And they are the most-used forum Amazing eh? You could almost say that there's people who don't want a million modifications as part of the core. (Infact there's a percentage of users who don't want to upgrade to olympus because they find it ha...

Re: [Olympus] Has it failed already?

Loading time for the average page: twice as fast as phpBB's main forum page on their site. Humour me. Does your forums serve 83 requests a second on average? Do they have ~620 users on line in a given 5 minuite period? If so then you may compare your load times to phpBB.com's forums, else apples an...

Re: [Olympus] Has it failed already?

RSS is a big thing same with AJAX. Everywere you look its mosty RSS and some forms of AJAX. AJAX wasn't really about when 3.0 was accepting new features. RSS hadn't hit the bigtime either. It's anoying to think that this release has taken so long to do, when really it should of kind of been out the...
