Re: Here is what I think

Tl;Dr yes there is scope for improvement in terms of making forums user friendly.
No, it will not happen as soon as you'd expect. We need a driving force other than pure motivation which is rather unstable.

Re: a very minor request

One should be "Reset my password" or "Submit"
And other one should be "Cancel"

Re: Make use of REQUIRED attribute in forms?

Guys I think phpbb 3.2 is already feature locked (correct me if I'm wrong)
So by the time the next version (3.3?) comes out I'm sure even Safari will be supporting this. Let's think future :)

Let's do this! :D

Make use of REQUIRED attribute in forms?

We can submit the forms (username, password etc) without actually filling which later gives us an error.
Why not include a required inside the input tags there by default?
much easier solution

Re: Complete redesign of the update process?

Uncompromisable feature additions for 3.3:
- one click update (or as user/noob friendly as possible).
- upload extensions extension made default? Maybe it can even be bundled with 3.2 release?

Re: Fatal error on Area51

I'll report what I found in this very topic as the error is "fatal error" only.
It occurred when I tried to change to "subsilver2" in UCP. Is it a known issue?

Re: Floating (ajax) notifications

If I understand you correctly, you mean to have a real time notification system?
I actually agree on that. Notification system should be real time only, that's what it is everywhere.
