Re: release around same time as phpBB Portal?
From the impression that I get from what the developers have said, the development of the phpBB Portal will not begin until after phpBB 2.2 is released.

Re: Updates every 40 minutes?!
What's wrong with Pascal? It's a fairly powerful language, but it also prevents you from getting into serious trouble, like you could with C all too easily. The lack of foreach / elseif is one thing currently. I'm sure there will be more :P C and C++ doesn't contain those either. Does that make the...

Re: Updates every 40 minutes?!
Very true. My PHP is pretty good, and for my computing course, I HAD to learn Pascal (*shudder*) It's been pretty easy to learn, although the language itself sucks. What's wrong with Pascal? It's a fairly powerful language, but it also prevents you from getting into serious trouble, like you could ...

Previous/Next Links
What happened to the Previous/Next links? Where they taken out for a specific reason? Because without them, I'll get lost. In fact, I had a hard time finding the bathroom this morning because those links where gone.

Re: Estimated Release
There will be no release of 2.1, it is only a development platform for the next version, 2.2. If you did a search of the forums, then you would know that the only thing that we have been given is that phpBB 2.2 will be released sometime this year--though I've always doubted that they will actually m...

Re: WYSIWYG message board?
This is not a MOD forum and there have been plenty of reasons given as to why this wasn't practical to make it into phpBB 2.2. If you want support for the MOD, then you have to ask the MOD's author. If he or she is no longer supporting it, then you are SOL. Sorry, but those are the breaks.

Re: Speeding up phpBB development
ok... i admit that more people might slow down the progress... but instead of 2out of 5 active , won't it be 3 , 4 or even 5 people active be better??? What do you expect Paul to do, hold a gun to their heads and say "contribute or else"? Since phpBB is a completely voluntary project, you...

Re: Speeding up phpBB development
Back when 2.0 was still in development, most of the comments about it remained here at area51. Things didn't shift over until after 2.0 was finally released. I don't see it changing for 2.2.

Re: Speeding up phpBB development
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the skills and knowledge needed for other teams, such as the MOD Team, different from those needed to develop phpBB 2.2? No, you're not wrong, not really. Yeah, I was being a little sarcastic about this idea that there are "extra" team members that coul...
