Re: Is the Chameleon style worth it?

I was told it would result in changes that are problematic to current extensions, and if true, that is not something I would want. I'm not trying to be "harsh," but rather realistic.

Money is not the only measurement of "worth." People's time does have value and that includes the team and volunteers. The loss of extensions is also a cost, even if not a financial one.

Is the phpBB4 Chameleon style worth it?

It's the theme designed to be for phpBB4, and it has been in development since 2018. It is considered this grand new frontier for phpBB but seeing images of it, it doesn’t look that grand IMHO. Also, won’t most phpBB users change it anyway to a theme of their choice, just like many already do with p...

Re: phpbb.com profile link for phpBB3?

panh78 wrote: Tue Oct 26, 2021 2:53 am Hello,
I was wondering if the phpbb.com profile link mod used here is available for the public?
Mods have been out of pasture for quite a bit. What are used here are extensions and it does not appear that one installed here links to phpBB.com.

Re: Using phpBB4 dev on a live board

not all bugs are always immediately apparent. The main bug in phpBB4 that I am aware of is that of auto installing extensions - also not sure about the new "auto update". There are probably others that I am not aware of but for most Admins these are the two main changes. Another bug is th...

Re: Using phpBB4 dev on a live board

I highly doubt that a new style will make phpBB4 any better if not just aesthetically, what's behind the curtain is what matters and you still don't seem to get it. :) That's actually why I asked. I played with the dev and I didn't think there was much wrong with it, but not all bugs are always imm...

I misspoke. Ops. I meant dev, and wasn't thinking when I written the title.

Using phpBB4 dev on a live board

Obviously no one here should recommend using the phpBB4 development version on a live board that someone really cares about, but I'm just wondering how unstable you guys think the current development version is. Just curious as there were people were effectively demanding its release on the main site.

Re: clone_post out of the box

b) changing the post_time to the post_time of the source post. To be honest, I cannot think of many situations where the timestamp has to be an exact match, but I understand where you're coming from. It's a feature I use regularly but don't consider necessary as a default feature. On the other hand...

Re: phpbb 4

I really don't think I will ever "upgrade" to 4.0. I am dissapointed by 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3. Still using good old 3.0. :D Just my opinion... Hey, use what works for you, because as the old saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I do recall not advising people to upgrade if...
