Re: Password protect a forum feature?

<snip>i imagine this can be useful in an environment where the board serves real communities, (rather than virtual ones)...</snip> Exactly. Managers of a real-life group can have private, online discussions in a forum that is not open to the rest of the real community which also uses the same board...

Re: Quick Reply...

There are more topics where QR is discussed than there are fingers on my hands (including my feet).
QR will not be a default feature (certainly not in 3.0, perhaps in later versions).

Re: Will phpBB3 have MODs?

... Currently, each time a mod has to be installed, each style has to be individually edited and since different styles have different codes, EasyMOD has a lot of trouble with some styles. ... One great improvement (if my statement is still valid - 'cause it's been a couple of weeks since I last ha...

Re: Update vom CVS to CVS

EDIT: Small note I would say unless you are very comfortable with CVS and the whole idea of version control...I would recommend you wait till BETA. There is no support at all for CVS versions. BETA should not be too far off. Not able to say when but I think it is clear that is it beginning to get c...

Re: phpBB 3.0?

oh, so stupid *beep* like 'STFU n00b" can't be posted via the posting page, only the QR box. makes sense.... trolls usually don't mind jumping through hoops to *beep* off as many people as possible. And where exactly did I write that spamming is prevented by not using QR? Like I said:QR...

Re: phpBB 3.0?

Only true gage of popularity would be a poll where you can enforce one vote per person (course, people can have multiple accounts, but the chances of scewed data is far less via this method). Not really. When people have a choice to vote or not ... not is chosen by a fairly high percentage, and non...

Re: phpBB 3.0?

that has nothing to do with having a QR box. I can say lol, WTF, FTW, 1337, and all the other stupid-ass things people say except I have to load a whole nother page to do it. I see the point in quick reply though I don't often use it, but it's a very popular feature when people know about it. I dis...

Re: Yay! Permissions!

OK guys, I was having a very bad day (flu running around within my entity or what's left of it). I hereby apologise to rivaldo as (after reading through some topics again) the statement I made about rivaldo's posts being nothing but critical about phpBB is incorrect. It's just that the constant moan...

Re: I'm surprised.

Is security going to be much tighter in the next release? That was always my main concern with phpBB to be honest. To be honest, it hasn't been a concern of mine. Every single piece of (web)software has or has had its security issues. In the case of phpbb a couple of those issues were serious (but ...
