This is still 2.1. When it is released, it will become 3.0. It is my understanding that "Olympus" is only a codename while it is still in development, not to be used when 3.0 is actually released.
Hope this helps

Re: using Smarty ?
It was my impression that Nathan Codding took elements from several templating engines and combined them with a lot of his own ideas. You are correct about Paul recoding a lot of it though.

Re: using Smarty ?
Hi, phpBB is using a custom built templating engine built by former team member Nathan Codding. It uses a lot of elements of Smarty. phpBB probably wouldn't switch to Smarty because it is a lot of work to change all the code, and they already have a system in place that works. Re: Where can you find the CVS repository?
Hi,
As it says on the Sourceforge Site Status page, there is a problem with the CVS server for some projects. phpBB happens to be one of them.

Re: Project Olympus?
The CVS version and the snapshots are the same. This server uses a cron (?) job to grab the contents of CVS, package them up, and put them on the server to download, every hour.

It's a permissions thing. The topic starter is allowed to lock their own topic.

There are also lots of other smaller sites.
Google: phpBB Mods
Hope this helps

When it comes to public BETA, I assume that they will make it available for download, and wait for users to start reporting bugs to the tracker.

Hi,
It's CVS and unsupported, and not a cookie issue.

Re: Suggestion
Hi,
The feature set for phpBB 2.2 has been finalized. What you can do is head over to http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/phpbb" target="_blank and submit your idea to the feature tracker. Then it will be considered for the next release of phpBB.
