You can't do it by editing a single template file after you've already had several users and active threads.

For every new forum, I have to mod phpBB manually to enable email notifications for all users, which also involves modifying the MySQL database for existing users. It shouldn't be this hard and needs to be done through ACP.

Nick, you're missing the irony that it was "in the package" for 2.5 years, and now there is no more Windows Live Messenger, so it needs to come out of the package.

LOL so this was merged two and a half years ago and still hasn't made it into a current build? Maybe the guy was right to bump it.

Tried that code. It's not intuitive to users because the last post is text instead of a link. Any way to get this version working before 3.1?

Will that method result in more strain on MySQL than this one?
