Re: Olympus vs. the rest
Olympus features ACM (Advanced Cache Management) which allows adding new caching plugins easily (only need to drop in one file), so it's just a matter of someone writing a memcached cache plugin, which I'm sure will happen once final is released (or maybe even earlier ;-)) Indeed, I was just hintin...

Re: Olympus vs. the rest
Also phpBB3 loads faster than vB. And with phpBB you can find your posts with a quick click on "view your posts". This option is only seen so far in SMF and phpBB. For threads that you want to keep in view, you have to subscribe with vB. Quick Links -> My Profile -> Find all posts by...

Re: Olympus vs. the rest
As I help administer a vB forum (3.6), I can offer this comparison: Permissions: phpBB3 beats vB by a long shot here. phpBB3 has many more permissions and the system of overrides for a user in multiple usergroups is much cleaner. Forum management: Each is roughly equal here. Interface: vB is getting...

phpBB3 can use MySQL fulltext, but I don't think it does by default.

Re: Unlimited subforms? I wonder what that means.
phpBB 2 does not have subforums.
If you want to see how phpBB 3 does it, try the testing forum: viewforum.php?f=7

Re: Jabber support
I believe the Jabber integration is solely for notifications. You get a Jabber message when someone sends you a private message or something. It works something like this: You find a jabber server, like jabber.org You register phpBB an account (it might be able to do that by itself, not sure) Put in...

Re: No User Activity Display over 5,000 posts...
I believe there was a bug report over this. It was far too slow for large postcounts.

Re: SVG as forum images ...
SVGs also take more browser rendering time (it actually has to work to paint them on the screen) and take up more space. And IE has no support for them.
Use them to store the artwork on your own computer, then generate PNGs once the file has been edited to your liking.
