Re: Prosilver Overhaul/Modernization

The forum listing is tabular data because each forum has its respective post count, topics count and last poster. The data is not flat like in a unordered/ordered list. Whether a definition list is more appropriate is arguable, however tables do seem more appropriate if the same data is stored in th...

Re: Prosilver Overhaul/Modernization

@ HTML5 yes XML and HTML are separated there are no transitional / strict / html / xhtml differences in HMTL5 it all one beast. With the HTML5 doctype it will accept what you do I was just pointing out that using XML in IE8 and below will cause the user to receive a "save file" dialog rat...

Re: Prosilver Overhaul/Modernization

I agree with pretty much all of your suggestions just two things: I think we should move javascript files entirely out of the template and have a js directory on the same level as the imageset/theme/template and we should stick with XHTML meaning we would use XHTML5 (the XHTML version of HTML5). Fo...

Re: Prosilver Overhaul/Modernization

I agree with that, if you redesign the template I'd rather it use XHTML for this time and not html5. I'd like to see the template work with IE7+ (of course it will work with firefox and chrome however you program it  ) Like DavidIQ said, in phpBB4, maybe html5 can be used. Doesn't prosilver al...

Re: SEO URLs

The only reason provided was that SEO URLs break when upgrading the MOD. However, as A_Jelly_Doughnut pointed out, could be applied to any MOD. For example, what if Ultimate Points broke every time phpBB was updated? Do we have to include that as core as well? Also, lack of implementation is provide...

Re: SEO URLs

Do you have a real reason how a Pretty URL on/off switch will harm YOU, or do you just enjoy trolling? Because if you are not the developer who'll need to do the work, then if for whatever reason you think it will harm YOUR site, you just shouldn't switch it on, and that should be the end of the st...

Re: SEO URLs

And what % of phpBB installations do you think use remote avatars? Do the admins understand what remote avatars even mean? For one, phpBB.com. Another large forum: MozillaZine . There are a lot of websites that use remote avatars. Then they must be living in 1970s. In any case if they don't know wh...

Re: Content Security Policy (CSP)

Wow, that's cool...
/me adds headers to my own website straight away. 8-)

Hopefully other browsers might implement this as well.

Re: SEO URLs

Just put in mind that potentially confidential information should not be placed in URLs. If a private forum had "SEO URLs" and an external link was given, any users that click that link could leak the URL in a referrer header. Or even worse, if remote avatars were allowed, then any 3rd pa...

Re: SEO URLs

Last of all, URLs are only a very minor aspect of SEO. I wonder if you have ever done any seo. Urls are one thing that a site admin may actually affect, unlike things like how many years the domain has existed, how unique the content is on the internet or the quality of the back links. Unlike backl...
