Thanks: D I'm pretty sure it's too late to get the developers attention for consideration, but if it's doable maybe a mod could be written.

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!

A generic challenge question (What do you see in the picture) that has an unlimited number of responses and is adaptable to each forum would give as many possible responses as there are forums. You can make your image and response as simple or as complex as you like. As long as the Admin is able to ...

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!

That doesn't sound right. Why go to the trouble to having a person going to every page if an bot can do it. The bots assume everyone has a standard registration page and so they just fill in the relevant bits. The reason things like the VIP MOD work so well is that they add a new field and the bots...

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!

I wouldn't say search engine bots are the problem, its other spam bots that cause porn links and such like, not google, yahoo etc. That is not what I said. What I said was that some spammers take advantage of your listing in the search engines to find you then use an auto submit program to post spam.

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!

Mmm.... But, from my very limited knowledge of looking at both the VIP code and the security question code MODs, I would have thought a simple question/statement and answer, which are easily configurable in the admin panel, would give the end users and infinite number of anti spam options in the wa...

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!

I implemented the text confirmation, a simple question is asked, and solved so far my spambot problem. [...] This discussion as already been made on this board: http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26358&start=0 See expecially what I said starting from http://area51.phpbb.com/p...

Re: Third Party CAPTCHA

I posted a comment about challenge and response questions in http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26342&start=1030. Perhaps I posted it in the wrong place. OCR is getting very good these days. Papers that we had to have manually entered we are now able to have scanned. It's even...

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!

I do really like the thing of a simple question & answer way, though I would like to add, maybe a variable with a number set by the forum of multiple questions. It's a futher way to confuse bots. On a sidenote, I guess it isn't strong enough when like this one got though. Just a suggestion, but...

Each browser has its own cache of cookies. you can log on to "anything" with 2 browsers at the same time.. even your bank. You got me thinking, so out of curiosity I tried. I was not able to access my account with out ending the previous session. But the statement "Each browser has i...
