Re: Allow all admins to purge cache

How about requiring a_server so that there is some granularity on the permission.

I agree that there is nothing really harmful that can be done with "Purge the Cache", just throwing an idea out.

Re: [RFC] ACP Search

The issue is that settings and actions aren't indexed afaik, so it wouldn't be easy to search for them at the moment. Also, currently there are duplicated settings (i.e. the same thing in multiple modules) which could make things confusing as well. Right. I was thinking of some kind of full form bu...

Re: [RFC] Cleanup the ACP javascript

Your proposed replacement function would need to be run through the template parser to take care of localisation (for your SELECT ALL). Does that affect your opinion? Or was that just a quickly thrown together example and you would really attach the event to a class? (I'm guessing the second one)

Re: [RFC] ACP Search

I'd like to think about how this could be accomplished before stating an opinion on whether this is a good feature. I think it would require a rewrite of the ACP (which is OK, but would affect my vote)

Re: [RFC] Release Strategy Following 3.1

IMO this is best discussed after 3.1 is finished. Keep in mind that rapid release cycles (on the order of 6 months) typically mean that work is continuing on new features while another group of developers stabilizes the next release. I think we can all agree that phpBB has insufficient development r...

Re: [RFC] Bigger topic title lenght limit

For whomever is going to do this, some additional info: The "topic_title" column in the phpbb_topics table is a VARCHAR(255). So the limit is in the software, meaning that you'll need to look, likely, in posting.php or functions_posting.php to find where it is limiting the length. Also, the post_ti...

Re: [RFC] Require PHP 5.3

The way I see this is the following: We want to finish 3.1 as soon as possible. Extensions need to be finished to release 3.1. Extensions would be easier and quicker to implement fully if we could use third party components for them. Third party components we would like to use for extensions requir...

Re: [RFC] Require PHP 5.3

TL;DR: Bumping the version requirement is a fine thing to do, but trying to morph phpBB3 into some "maintainable" structure is just a bad idea, and without utilizing the features of 5.3 the requirements bump is silly. I'd counterpropose my suggestion, now at least a year old, to ditch 3.x and just d...

I assume this is the reason it hasn't been brought up. Could be we're just lacking creativity. :geek:

Re: [RFC]When creating a report for a post, copy the post it

Would be irrelevant if post revisioning happens... I don't expect that to happen for 3.1, but might in some future version.
