Re: Plugin code integration with core

I had a look at how plugins are done in MyBB, Wordpress and Phorum. MyBB The first thing that I curiously noted was that while mybb itself claims to be gpl-licensed, many plugins have licenses which are incompatible with gpl. Some prohibit modifications, others prohibit redistribution, and some proh...

Re: Install File Auto-Remove

If php either 1) does chdir into directory of script being executed, which is a very reasonable expectation considering how file-related functions work, or 2) holds script file open for reading while the script is being executed, I suspect windows will not allow you to remove the script's directory....

Re: [RFC] Post log/record

On which note, if this feature does get implemented the old versions should probably be stored in a table other than posts (e.g. post_versions). This is how some other versioning software works (I don't know about Wikipedia).

Re: subsilver2

nn-, and how many that support 3.0.6, 3.0.7 or 3.0.7-PL1? Among modifications targeting 3.0.[67], subsilver support is around 61%. If you only included them in the survey it would probably shrink to something more like 25%. As, when phpBB 3 came out, subsilver had been used before that and some peo...

Re: [RFC] Post log/record

At many sites posts table is the largest one already. Making it even larger by storing old post revisions will make just about everything slower and increase db size. A site I used to admin wanted to remove old posts due to perceived performance impact of having so many. I suspect there is going to ...

Re: Beware the 4.0

Let's not forget the winamp 3 fiasco, and winamp 5 (=2+3) that followed it. Also just noticed: after having 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 firefox went from 3.5 to 3.6. Coincidence? On which note, chrome in fx 3.5 remains just as broken as it was in 3.0. 3.5 overall does not unquestionably suck but chro...

Re: Install File Auto-Remove

Most Unix-like environments would not have permissions set allowing such button to work, I would think. Could be handy for other environments though, but in those you may be unable to remove a directory in which the file being executed is placed (you were thinking of having this functionality in ins...

Re: subsilver2

According to my investigation subsilver is definitely supported by 48% of all mods in moddb and likely supported by another 2% of all mods, bringing the total likely support to half a mod short of exactly one half of all mods currently posted.

Re: subsilver2

Sure, if someone gives me access to all mods I'll write a script that crawls through them and figures out which percentage supports subsilver.
