Re: Drop php closing tags

I am in favor of dropping the closing tag. I'd also like to see a newline at the end of every file, since many editors (VIM) add this by default, and any unix-like environment expects it. However, I don't think changing this in 3.0 is a good idea, for following reason mentioned by Josh: it cannot h...

Re: Spam handling for phpBB 3.1

I think an Emergency Ban idea would be good. It would delete all posts by the user, as well as ban them permanently and delete all of the user's posts. And it would add the user to a Banned usergroup if set up to do so. ;)

Re: Wysiwyg TinyMCE implementation

As may have already been mentioned, the forseeable issue with any WYSIWYG editor is the custom BBCode implementation. Of course that would just be difficult, not impossible. I say yes to possibly a wysiwyg plugin created and supported by the phpBB Team, but I don't think I would ever see the need to...

Re: Global Announcements in 3.1

phpBB2 did never have global announcements. But yes we do mean linking in the way you describe. I think it makes things a lot clearer to users who might otherwise be confused by the read/unread behaviour and might not realise that they are visiting a topic visible in multiple forums. It should howe...

Re: subsilver2

I think subsilver2 should be retired. I was sort of unhappy when I first saw that two styles were being shipped by default. Prosilver is more modern, both in frontend design, and in the coding infrastructure. Tables only allow limited possibilities as far as design, but CSS + Divs allow LOTS of poss...

Re: Ajax in phpbb 3.1

- Drag and drop forum order (in admin panel) I like this idea. This. Also, I think pagination could use ajax, although that would bring up the issue of how to link to a specific page. Maybe allow the AJAX to go to whatever page, but if there is a hardcoded page number in the URL, default to that wh...

Re: Global Announcements in 3.1

I'm not sure if this was mentioned since I read about half of the posts in this topic, but what is meant by "linking" to the GA from other forums? Because I like how it currently shows the forum name in breadcrumbs of the forum that the user clicked into the GA from. In phpBB 2.0 I believe that if y...

[RFC] Moderation System

This RFC is for the implementation of a Moderation system that is geared more towards discussion and accountability, while also providing more control over what moderators can and cannot do (globally and locally using permission system), and tools available to the moderators either through core code...

Request a MOD on phpBB.com

But there is one for that. On phpBB.com search for Advertisement Management; that does it for you. ;)

Re: [Usability] Reducement of confirmation pages / Allow undo

On the topic of deletion, how about implementing a soft delete type feature. In other words, posts don't get deleted from the database but they are removed from view except of mods and admins? Or maybe a Trash Bin forum where deleted posts are automatically moved. Also, I'm not sure if this qualifie...
