Re: Realtime floating (ajax) notifications

Not in the core. I am thinking of it as an extension, but I am currently occupied with much more important things.

Also I am not sure whether PMs require fulltext search you are proposing. Even Messenger has simple string search mechanism implemented only.

Re: [GSOC 2018] Revamp PM system to chat based

Starring messages as important/favourites which can be later viewed (similar to WhatsApp) Yup, why not. Even "mark as unread" is a great feature I use all the time when I want to deal with the message later. Other than that, I think data storage probably doesn't need to be changed at all. Since mai...

Re: [GSOC 2018] Revamp PM system to chat based

Yes but sometimes existing group members might not want the newly added user to read older messages. So true. I just don't understand why you can send a message to a group when, in fact, you send it to the concrete people behind the group. I know it's a shortcut for message sender, but still, I wou...

Re: [GSOC 2018] Revamp PM system to chat based

One drawback I see is for someone looking for previous conversations of a specific topic may find it difficult but then again this is up to the user to choose. This can be solved by proper search mechanism, but as you already pointed out, this might be out of the scope for one project. I'm looking ...

Re: [GSOC 2018] Revamp PM system to chat based

Keeping that in mind, one way to implement this could be having a log of recently contacted profiles (with topic) on the left and the ASC order of messages in the middle as before. https://designshack.net/wp-content/uploads/whatsapp.jpg Something similar, but can have multiple conversations with th...

Re: [GSOC 2018] Revamp PM system to chat based

akbarhashmi, thanks for your interest! Requirements are vague on purpose to let you decide on many aspects. Original idea does not count with ajax/push updates. The main idea is to redesign PMs to show as one stream of messages instead of many "topics". So yes, subjects would be removed and all "top...

Re: ACP UX Improvements

COPPA - (This should go into an extension) +∞ Cookie notice as well then. Sure. +1 to remove The option or the functionality? Functionality. Not strictly always. It has already been discussed that description is wrong here (see this PR). Option should be kept. When is it different? In 99.99% it sta...

Re: ACP UX Improvements

Actually we should even think about merging both parts so that you can download a style from the Customisation Database on phpBB.com and the board + the ACP will have the same look. (I never understood why there even is that kind of seperation) Removing this seperation would also be nice so that we...

Re: Can upload Styles & EXT from ACP

Man, it already should be able to list, download and update exts directly from CDB! There are some security issues why it's not implemented yet, though. I think...
