Well - it was something we considered a long (long long - I feel old) time ago. I don't know what happened to it because I recall us being in favour. The issue may have been cross-server support.

Well - first you deprecate it - you don't just remove something like this in a point release - it's a basic feature that as has been noted "may" still be relied upon by end users. I think the data- was assumed and the phpbb- was additional to it :P

Well my opinion - yes and no :D Way back when - each of the notification messages was given thought, did it need to exist. In some cases we actually gave no notification initially but decided ultimately for consistency to make most actions provide feedback. The web isn't instant and peeps have a ten...
