Re: Outbuffering for integration with Joomla and errors

Technically, I agree that URL handling needs work, but that is something that will have to wait for 3.2 .
The easiest approachfor 3.0 would be hooking into the template display hook and rewriting the URLs based on their template variable names prior to phpBB generating output.

Re: PHP 5.3 Support

As long as not even the PHP group can decide on what 5.3 will actually be, we won't be able to say.

Re: MVC framework for the next major release?

The next version will not be a complete re-write, hence not a complete MVC. Overall, the use of (G)UI patterns in non-persisitent web scripts is dubious at best, as the mere setup of the architecture takes longer than just running the code. Especially MVC is of questionable use in web scripts, as th...

Re: Any chance for a striped version

You can use auth plugins to add your own auth; no idea what a reduced version would entail. http://wiki.phpbb.com/Authentication_plugins

Re: Outbuffering for integration with Joomla and errors

Maybe we'll stay one step short :D . Glad that it works!

See the docs/hook_system.html in the phpBB3 package for info on how to add hooks.

On a somber note : firing an exception will really harm performance; it is probably the single most expensive action in PHP.

Re: Outbuffering for integration with Joomla and errors

The clean exit is debatable; exit is something hard to circumvent in error situations and neither of those scripts does it AFAIR. My only quick idea to do this without source changes would be to add a hook throwing an exception to the phpBB exit handler . i.e. throw new PhpBB_Exited_Exception('phpBB...

Re: Template procedures

Essentially we are doing it with include now - jumpbox.html and the other very small template files are in effect "procedures".

Re: phpBB 3.2 Discussion

Here i am with a feature request: I think the new permission system is great, with roles, etc... BUT, it's hard to maintain it in a very large board. IE i'm admin on a board with 100 forum/subforums. If i want to create a new role (like Read/Bump, not write), i have to set the right permission sett...
