Re: Ranting/Venting forum in the phpBB 3.0 area?

I am sure that the developers and moderators are tired of reading the rants and personal venting of those waiting for the release of RC1. It appears that patience is thin and tempers are short about the question 'when'? Does it make sense to create a forum here where users are free to band together...

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!

Like i've said before the simplest and most effective way is a 6 or 7 digit code. The different combinations of which would be almost endless, extremley difficult for a bot to get right. Just random numbers, you could even embed an image and put a link in the registration profile. Something like Wha...

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!

I wouldn't say search engine bots are the problem, its other spam bots that cause porn links and such like, not google, yahoo etc.

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!

and how will new visitors to the forum who wants to register get that code? You can have it on the main page where human visitors can read it, or you can put the code on a jpg file and have a link in the registration field to get them the code. All of which you would need a human person to do, not ...

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!

Why does it have to be a question? I use a code in most of my forums They can have a database of all the questions and answers they want but if its a nine digit code how can they have a database of answers for that Eg. A Code of - 129423A223A Just for instance would be very hard for a bot to crack I...

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!

I only meant the VIP mod would be a good idea along with the improvements in the captcha, no harm in too much protection! I'm sure the improvements in the captcha are needed aswell otherwise they wouldn't be doing it. But the VIP mod is an amazingly simple and effective addition they could include

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!

I thought you said you'd read the announcement.....? Captcha is the visual confirmation on registration used to confuse spambots. It doesn't seem to be as effective as they hoped so they're going to make some changes. I'd like to hope they're going to include something along the lines of the VIP MO...

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!

You all do this everytime they announce any changes to their site. Why assume its tonight just because they have announced an update, websites, databases and servers all need updates from time to time. Why not just wait and see instead of getting your hopes up

Re: Strange user

Are you for real? I wasn't sure it was a bug so I certainly wasn't going to put it in the bug report. I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced these sort of posts. I never thought it was a bug, it was either a spam bot or someone messing about. You need to grow up and read posts properly. Or m...
