Re: Ideas from other BBS?

The package manager itself may *perhaps* just be 'bolt-on,' but the ability to just drop in packages with mods and have them automatically work is NOT. For something like that to work, the entire forum would have to be redesigned from the ground up to support such a system, and in my opinion, for a ...

Re: Will Olympus be search-engine friendly?

I don't think it has that ability by default. You'd most likely need a mod of some sort to get it to reformat all of the links in the system, which would be a major undertaking. There was a rather large thread somewhere on here about SEO, but I'm not sure where it went. The general consensus though ...

Re: A few feature comments and question

AFAIK, the text saying a post has been edited only shows up if it's been a while since the post has been created. Otherwise, there's a grace period before it starts marking posts as edited, allowing the user to quickfix any mistakes without the 'edited post' text appearing.

Re: What is this icon?

The dot is a server-enabled option that marks all threads that you have a presence in, whether it be the topic post, or a reply. It can be enabled/disabled from the admin-panel. They recommend not using it for incredibly large boards because of the overhead involved, but most boards are fine using t...

It's an option of group properties edit panel. Same place you edit the group's color has a checkbox to show the group on the legend or not.

Hell, I'm not even colorblind and I can barely tell that it's a seven. I wouldn't have even known what it was if not already told.... :(

Re: Microsoft Is Expanding Their Anti-Piracy Program

They've been found legitimate by the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in ProCD v. Zeidenberg , and that decision has been cited as precedent elsewhere. Note though that the ProCD license did not mention the ability for ProCD to change the EULA without notice. The point I'm making is that many analy...

Re: Microsoft Is Expanding Their Anti-Piracy Program

And that's one of the problems. ;-) It may be annoying to read them, but no one can complain about the terms of the EULA if they don't even read it. (This is not directed to you, but everyone who fits under that category in general.) I agree. That's why I personally don't complain about what the EU...

Re: 220 Queries! when saving attatchment settings

This could possibly be of concern to folks running from a SQL database hosted on a different machine where the inherent lag between the two systems could accumulate to an incredible effect. Eg, add 1-2 ms to each query for sending it between servers, and your query goes from ~100 ms to about 300ms, ...
