Re: Multiple phpBB 2.2 Forums

The constants that were formerly defined in constants.php are now defined in common.php, for what it's worth. (Now, I didn't check and make sure they're all there, but you get the idea.)

Re: Languages - translation

Back during the 2.0.x cycle, language packs started appearing around the beta and release candidate phases, but I didn't learn about phpBB until the first beta, so some may have existed beforehand. In any case, I know not what (if any) plans they may have for 2.2--current translators may reprise the...

Re: Attachments and Such

As a general rule, if you can see it on this forum, it'll probably make the final release. There will be an occasional exception--the developers may want to test something, for example, but I would speculate that that is comparatively rare. But really, who knows? To more specifically answer about at...

Re: Admin Skins

The admin panel is no longer skinnable. Very few people even bothered to use the feature in 2.0.x, and as you said, this can help prevent board lockouts if they accidentally mess up their styles.

Re: styles in subforms

Yes, since you assign a "style" to a forum or subforum. As a style is a combination of a template, an imageset, and a theme, you can combine them any way you like and assign them as such. Here, as far as I know, all styles use the subSilver template, and different themes and imagesets. This is mostl...

Re: Languages

Well, as far I'm aware, language folders are now named based on the language code. For instance, English is \"en\". I assume they'll continue with that. I'm not sure what plans they may have for displaying the choices as Français, etc.

Re: Alpha mods

And won't you just feel terrible when you spend a week writing a MOD, only to see the developers add it as a core feature a day or two later? ;) It's like playing a game of dice... I will grant that there are some "sure bets" though... Quick reply is all I can think of off the top of my head. Anywa...

Re: I always wanted to see..

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the admin system already in place. Admin permissions are given out like any other permissions. As an example, you can give a user or group the ability to manage bans, and nothing else. When they go to the admin panel, they'll only see the ban control. It's ...

Re: Compatibility Birthday 2.0.x => 2.2

In the versions I've tested, Niels uses a custom function to store the dates. He may have changed it in later versions. In any case, it would be very simple to create a script to convert it. If Niels (or anyone else) doesn't take that on, it's little more than an inconvenience for users to re-enter...

Re: General Questions

Attachments are already supported, though users don't have the proper permissions to post them here. (Aww, FF8Jake beat me. <3 new post post review) As for comparable to vB... well, that's unanswerable. It really depends on what you consider comparable. We can take it to the extreme and ask if it w...
