Re: What went wrong

Wouldn't it make more sense to select people that aren't already involved in the project so that more people are involved? Selecting people that are already involved isn't going to increase the number of people that are involved. iiuc, what you suggest amounts to "punishing" people for being involv...

Re: What is the future of phpBB????

I know you sort of alluded to this but with this comment it is very apparent you definitely don't know anything about what's going on here which makes much of your long post unreliable. phpBB participated in GSoC last year and is participating again this year after very good results last year. i fr...

Re: What is the future of phpBB????

development is fubar? Why? Too slow? when 3.1 will eventually go out (if it ever will) many of the new stuff it will contain are things developed by people that are no longer around. i do not think this is a sane way to run a project. when developers turnover is faster/shorter than the release cycl...

Re: What is the future of phpBB????

imo, this is like the tail wagging the dog. my opinion is that it doesn't make sense to have a "forum with integrated cms". it does make tons of sense to have "cms with integrated forum". when you look at it from this angle, such systems exist (the most prominent one is called wordpress, i think), a...

Re: phpBB 3.0.8 Release Candidate 1 published

it might help translators if you add to the package a small file listing all new language vars. i know such a list should be relatively easy to produce and should not create a huge problem to an experienced user to generate, but one should not automatically assume all translators are necessarily tec...

Re: Ability To branch replys off main topic

what you describe is known as "threaded" forum. ironically, the reason why phpbb even exists is because theFinn did not like the threaded style... at the time he needed a bbs system for his wife's web site, the only open-source, php-based forum software that he could find was phorum, which is thread...

Re: MOD Installation

IMHO, using the MODx format is the wrong direction. true, we have tons of existing MODs, but i still feel that this will not be good. MODx is propriatary (and ugly) format, that is meant to be used by humans, and is not friendly. it is ridiculously difficult to create, and not at all friendly to app...
