Re: [GSoC] Chat-like PMs interface :: discussion before coding starts

I am not sure what that is meant to represent but judging by the ticks I an guessing that the panel on the left is a list of messages and that the bottom panel on the right is the message content - so what is the panel top right? Personally I would prefer the left panel to be a list of folders, the ...

Re: EU-DSGVO or GDPR Aspects on Development

Hi, I'm pretty sure, that latest with the e-Privacy laws this (or a very similar) function will be a mandatory function in the EEC. My recommendation is to be prepared. Re: [GSoC] Chat-like PMs interface :: discussion before coding starts

I personally only use custom folders to bypass the message limits, could you give some examples as for what your users are using it? I don't what my users are using custom folders for, or even if they are using them, but I as Admin like to be able to "file" certain PMs for ease of future reference ...

Re: [GSoC] Chat-like PMs interface :: discussion before coding starts

From a first brief look the first thing that strikes me is the use of the term "Chat based". Whist I appreciate the concept of the layout, which if I am not mistaken would be somewhat similar to that of MS Outlook (and other email clients), and is something that would be an improvement I feel that "...

Re: EU-DSGVO or GDPR Aspects on Development

But there are other cookies set by extensions (check the official collapsible categories extension as an example), so how is that case handled? Do extension author need to implement a own opt-in for those cookies? The cookie that you quote there is an "operational" one and is therefore exempt from ...

so if Vue could replace jQuery then we could just write everything in Vue
But remember that many extensions are written to use JQuery so just dropping it would end up "breaking" some extensions.

Re: Event Sourcing and CQRS

I appreciate that the cost of storage is cheap these days but when considering phpBB many (the majority?) of users are on [cheap] shared hosting where they are limited to the amount of storage that they have and some hosts are notorious in trying to force you to upgrade your hosting package when you...

Re: Event Sourcing and CQRS

I think I follow in principle what this is about but the first thing that comes into my mind is that if you are storing all events that occur on a phpBB board in the database will this not result in a massive data storage problem, possibly beyond the resources for many boards? Or maybe I do not full...

How about keeping the 30 character limit for the core, but allowing 63 bytes for the extensions?
That would imply that anyone using Oracle would not be installing extensions (may possibly be true, but cannot be guaranteed)
