Re: Justifying the name PHPBB3!

Hehehe SHS, you're kinda scary carrying that big stick. Its wasting CPU cycles, better get rid of it and follow your own phpBB rules right  My comments above regarding Open Source was merly targetted at phpbb vs other boards, not the open source industry in general. I want phpbb to stay on ...

Re: Subscription System

I don't care what "other" boards do to be honest. Thats exactly my point, you need to know what the competition is doing. So phpBB can be one step ahead. Otherwise, they just land here, check out the goods, and go implement them on their software and phpbb reaches v3 and yet still out of date with ...

Re: Justifying the name PHPBB3!

I know, and thats what really hurts me. Open Source is always better than commercial - as more people tend to use it and are LOYAL to it. If hours per day is an issue then maybe the developers need to bring in some of the talent thats right in front of their eyes. We're all here trying to make sure ...

Justifying the name PHPBB3!

Hello all, I've been a loyal user of phpBB since its early days back in v0.x I've watched it grow and compete and kick ass. But to be honest, there has been a development draught. Most of the current features where done in mid 2003 when we hit M2 & 4. It should have been released in 2004. Now almost...

Re: Subscription System

Thanks psoTFX for the solid stance. I'll open up a new topic which i hope you will take into consideration. It's a list of features to justify the title tag PHPBB3!

Re: Subscription System

Certain boards already feature this. Wouldnt it be common sense to keep up with their level of features to make phpbb more upto date with the current market?

It would also bring in more high level ecommerce enabled sites to use it.

Subscription System

Will phpBB come with the ability to provide subscriptions? One way i can see this done is to create a group {SUBSCRIBERS} and whoever joins it will become a subscribed user. But what i have in mind is slightly different. What if the plan is to have PAID subscriptions? Would it be better to have a mo...

Re: Permissions Nightmare!

The easier and structured with logic in mind the better.

Extra unneccessary features will eventually get out of hand and make this more of a downgrade than an upgrade :|

Re: "new" module system?

The developers should know by now that the key to the success of phpBB is through its MOD database. The easier they do this the better. It should be fully modular, adding mods would only mean moving the files to the right place and updating database. phpBB should then recognise these files and load ...
